What is involved in the All on Four procedure?

At your first consultation we will fully check your teeth and gums with the use of X-rays, impressions and CAT scans. Referrals for CAT scan if required. A tailored treatment plan will be put together for you and will be explained in detail so that you are aware of what to expect- including costs and recovery time. Once you are happy, your implant surgery will be scheduled.

If you do need a tooth extraction, it may be possible to extract it and fit your implant straight away. This will depend on the tooth being removed and the condition of your gums. In some cases, a few weeks of recovery time will be necessary.

At your fitting appointment the four implants will be placed along with a new set of interim teeth. The procedure will take around 1-2 hours.

You will be invited in for check-ups in the following weeks and months afterwards so that we can assess your recovery and make sure your implants are healing as expected.

It will take around six months for your implants to fully heal and fuse securely with your jawbone. At this point we are able to attach abutments (or connectors) to the implants and fit your final set of replacement teeth. Each one will be made to measure, colour matched and perfectly adjusted for maximum comfort and bite.

Will All on Four hurt?

The procedure will take place under a local anaesthetic so will be as comfortable as possible. We can perform the surgery using a sedative if you would prefer. It is likely you will experience some discomfort and swelling in the days following your surgery. Standard painkillers should help with this -while a cold compress can help reduce any swelling.

Many people find that any discomfort subsides quickly and they are able to return to normal within just a couple of days.

Is All on Four for me?

All on Four is a highly suitable option for many patients- regardless of their age, the health of their gums or their previous oral history. Provided you are healthy enough to have a tooth extracted you shouldn’t have any problems with an All on Four dental implant.

I’ve been told Dental Implants aren’t suitable for me.
