What is a dental implant?

A dental implant replicates the structure of your natural tooth with a strong titanium screw placed into the jawbone (in place of the root) holding a crown in place. Implants can be used to replace any number of teeth, front teeth, or back teeth, one to all of them. Over time this screw fuses with your natural bone helping to hold it firmly in place. The result is a comfortable, strong, and securely fitted crown, bridge, or denture that you can rely on.

Dental implants can be fitted – irrespective of your age, the condition of your teeth or the number that need to be replaced. The main factor to consider is your general health, the condition of your gums and your potential for a successful recovery.

This revolutionary technique now allows us to use artificial bone and membranes to place implants for optimum aesthetics and place implants where they couldn’t be placed before.
For many thousands of patients worldwide, dental implants have proved a safe, long-term solution offering strong and natural-looking replacements which feel just as secure as their existing teeth. They really could transform your life.

At Inspired Dentistry, our highly skilled Implantologist, Adnan Rehman, would relish the opportunity to help you regain your smile. He places around 300 dental implants per year, so you know you are in safe and experienced hands.

Advantages of Dental Implants:

Natural Look and Feel: Dental implants are designed to mimic the appearance and function of natural teeth. The result is a seamless smile that blends harmoniously with your existing teeth, providing a natural look and feel.

Enhanced Confidence: Missing teeth can affect your self-esteem and confidence. Dental implants restore your smile, allowing you to speak, eat, and socialise with confidence, knowing that your teeth are securely in place.

Improved Oral Health: Unlike traditional bridges or dentures, dental implants don’t require altering or damaging adjacent teeth for support. This preservation of healthy tooth structure contributes to better long-term oral health.

Longevity and Durability: With proper care, dental implants can last a lifetime. They are made of biocompatible materials that fuse with your jawbone, providing a stable foundation for replacement teeth.

Improved Bite and Chewing Efficiency: Dental implants restore your ability to bite and chew properly, allowing you to enjoy your favourite foods without discomfort or restrictions.

Disadvantages of Dental Implants:

Surgical Procedure: Dental implant placement involves a surgical procedure. While it is generally well-tolerated, some patients may experience temporary discomfort or swelling during the healing process.

Time Commitment: Dental implant treatment typically requires multiple visits over a period of several months. This allows for proper healing and integration of the implant with the jawbone. However, the results are well worth the time invested.

Inspired Dentistry took me, a very nervous customer, with a wanting to understand the why’s and how’s of the pain I was experiencing and treated me in a way that I have to say was second to none.

At the age of 54, I experienced my first major teeth / tooth problem. Identified by pain! Until this time I have been very lucky and not had teeth / tooth issues. Going to the dentist is certainly not my favourite thing to do, let alone to have any form of treatment. But when there is pain there is little choice but to seek professional treatment. Full confidence was given to me, and i was very well treated. The problem has been resolved, and a long term solution provided for my tooth. As an added bonus, I can confidently say that whilst I hope I don’t have any other teeth issues ever, if I do, I know I will be in good hands at this practice, with full confidence of a good outcome. Thank you Inspired Dentistry.

The level of information and confirmation of understanding is excellent. I have undergone extensive work with implants and bone improvement, all of which were successful with minimum discomfort. Very good communication from the admin staff. Very happy with the service.

I’ve had some fairly major things done over the last 2 years. I’ve been very nervous and due to being neurodivergent I have sensory issues. The team here is kind, thoughtful and thorough. Dr Ad is very kind, gentle and skilled. Rosie is amazing, she does everything. Natalie is kind also and very friendly. Natasha, the Office Manager also I really appreciate, professional and very friendly. I would 100% recommend this practice.

If you need to have an implant, this is the place to go. First class care before and after from Rosie in particular. Everything explained by Natalie at each stage and sedation meant I felt nothing during tooth extraction. For anyone nervous I really recommend going for sedation and thanks to Ad for the painless procedure and my shiny new tooth!

I had some quite involved dental surgery yesterday involving removal of two teeth, one of which was a wisdom tooth. At the same time, two implants were fitted. I can’t praise everyone at Inspired Dentistry highly enough. They are so caring and made me feel very much at ease! Pain free too. Brilliant job! Huge thanks to Nat, Rosie, Maria and of course, Adnan.

FAQS

Overall, dental implants are suitable for the majority of patients – providing you are in good health. If you suffer from diabetes or are a heavy smoker you are at a greater risk of developing gum disease or infections following surgery. Therefore, we may suggest an alternative treatment for you. It’s important to maintain good oral hygiene after the procedure to help with the recovery process. If they aren’t cleaned properly, your implants can develop a coat of residue, much like plaque builds on our natural teeth. If this happens it could lead to gum infection, bleeding, soreness, and discomfort.Overall, strong healthy gums and jawbone are the main factors to take into consideration when we decide if dental implants are suitable for you.
If you have suffered from gum disease in the past you may now have lower bone density. Don’t despair as there are a number of ways in which we could improve the situation. Bone grafts and sinus lifts can both be used to help rebuild any missing bone. Do be aware though – if procedures such as these are required, healing will need to take place before your implants are fitted.
In a straightforward case, the insertion of implant treatment will take around 15 minutes. If necessary, it is possible to extract an existing tooth and fit your new implant immediately. This will, however, depend on the tooth we are working on and the condition of your gums.
Implants are normally fitted under a local anaesthetic so you will not feel any pain during the procedure, although you may experience some discomfort in the days and weeks afterwards. If you are particularly nervous or your case is more complex, then a sedative can be used. Overall, placing an implant is generally easier than removing a tooth.During the recovery time, a temporary restoration (or full dentures) can be worn if required.Every patient is unique, and your requirements will be discussed with you prior to commencement. Long term care is vital and regular check-ups and other maintenance will be scheduled as required.
Over 95% of implants are successful and with good levels of oral health and regular long-term dental care, they can last for 15 years or more.
Dental implants at Inspired Dentistry cost £2750 per implant and crown. All on 4 implants are from £12,995.
